So here it is...
There are many gap-yah travel style blogs out there and I don't expect this to be any different. So in this brief interlude where I haven't quite left yet, let's not talk about me. Instead let's discuss the far more interesting advice I've received prior to travelling overland to Singapore from the UK.
Opinion has ranged from the motherly 'just be safe' to the practical 'please try not to be kidnapped' - in both cases I shall try to follow the suggestions. As suggested by work, I will also unfortunately be avoiding the turn for Damascus. Beyond that there have been many recommendations to take care and to look after the cargo in the car.
It is perhaps the instruction of 'just say yes' that has stuck with me most. I'm sure the concept of saying yes to everything wasn't given to me without caution and situational understanding but I feel it's a great line to live my life by for this adventurous excursion. In the occasions whereby something is new and unfamiliar it will undoubtedly push me towards discovering something new about myself. I don't know what I'll find and there'll certainly be highs and lows; I think that's what attracts me the most.
Thank you to everyone for their suggestions and recommendations on everything from equipment to route to underwear. Having people to bounce ideas off and discuss the highlights and challenges of journeying has provided me with many warm conversations already and I look forward to the future ones to come.
Who knows if Pico the Picasso and I will make it to the other side of the world - I'm certainly interested to find out! My parting advice from the selection I've been offered is that 'life is a journey to be experienced'.
If there is anyone actually reading this ;) you can expect a post once a week for as long as the journey continues. They'll also be regular Instagram pics and Twitter tweets so feel free to follow the adventure on your personal flavour of social media or subscribe to the website below.
Wish me luck :)
